Hydraulic Drillers (Remote Work)

PGE has openings for Hydraulic Drillers to join our team.  Reporting to the Superintendent, you are responsible for working with a team of Ground Engineering professionals to operate the Hydraulic Drilling equipment as needed on-site at the exciting Kicking Horse Canyon Project located in Golden. BC. LOA provided.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Operate in a safe and respectful manner at all times on NorLand and client job sites
  • Set a high standard for quality of work that helps to elevate the skills of the rest of the drilling team
  • Operate as a leading productive member of a high functioning team to drive high quality and time efficient results


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily drilling support to the on-site team
  • Responsible for daily production and drill log tracking
  • Be able to use drilling expertise to troubleshoot onsite issues with equipment
  • Train and mentor junior drillers and up and coming workers while maintaining quality control
  • Ensuring that services are located and marked
  • Understanding and selecting the correct tooling necessary to get the job done
  • Ensuring that site is ready for equipment to be dropped off
  • Ensuring all equipment has been pre-checked
  • Setting up and moving drill equipment into position with the support of a Hydraulic Drilling Helper
  • Ensuring that the Hydraulic Drilling Helper has accurately set the drill into place and aligned the boom of the drill at the correct angle
  • Attend, and be an active participant in all mandatory safety meetings
  • Act/work at all times in a safe manner



  • Proficient in hydraulic rod and cased drilling.  Strong understanding of hydraulic drifters and dual rotary head systems
  • Proficient in drilling, open, permanent and temporary cased holes, augers holes, pipe piles and horizontal anchors though overburden, soils and/or rock strata in various conditions
  • Strong understanding of DTH system and tooling selections
  • Experience and proficiency operating Klemm and Comacchio drill rigs, specifically:  Klemm 807-7G, MC 22A and MC 4 units
  • Strong understanding of hollow bar (IBO) and solid anchor installations, grouting principals including QC documentation
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
  • Willingness to learn, develop new skills and mentor junior drillers
  • Experience with basic power and construction tools
  • Holds a valid driver’s license
  • Fit to work – ability to see, hear, walk, stand, lift up to 50lbs
  • Basic computer and electronic time sheet entry experience is an asset (B2W, Hard Dollar, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work in deep, confined spaces
  • Good work ethic and a willingness to learn
